William E. (Bill) Savage
William E. (Bill) Savage, 85, of Farmland, IN, passed away Tuesday, February 28th, 2023 peacefully while in the company of family members at his residence. Bill was born in Muncie, IN, on August 23, 1937, a son of the late Elizabeth (Law) Hammer and Donald Eugene Savage. He was a 1957 graduate of Farmland High School and the loving husband of Rachel Mae (Durham) Savage who he happily married in 1959 and recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Bill was formerly employed as Town Marshall, General Works Manager for the Town of Farmland, devoted over 33 years to the Farmland Volunteer Fire Department and was also a semi truck driver. He was a life member of the IVFA, Lions Club, Red Knights Motorcycle Club and once hosted the convention at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Sons of the American Legion Post #353, and the Lake Highlander Shuffleboard Club President in Clearwater, FL, for 15 years. In his free time he enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, riding on his golf cart, carpentry, mowing, sports, watching western's, listening to country western music, coin collecting, and was proud to say that he and Rachel had been to 48 states on their motorcycle. Bill was a people person, who never met a stranger, had finally reached remission after battling cancer since 2019 and leaves behind many treasured friends and family members. He is survived by his wife Rachel, 2 sons; Butch Savage (wife Beth), Larry Savage (wife Lou Ann), 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Elizabeth Hammer and Donald E. Savage. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 5-8 PM and Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 11-12 at MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 12 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Windsor, IN. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Farmland Volunteer Fire Department (PO Box 507 Farmland, IN, 47340). Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel.
