Waylon R. Phillips
Waylon R. Phillips, 38, of Portland, IN, passed away Sunday, April 7th, 2023, peacefully while in the company of family members at Persimmon Ridge, in Portland, IN. Waylon was born in Portland, IN, on June 14, 1985, a son of Brenda (Knipp) Fultz and the late Dowell Phillips. He attended Jay County High School and formerly worked in cabinet manufacturing and assembly. Waylon enjoyed fishing, cooking, video games, his mom's cooking, and spending time with family. He will forever be remembered as a humble, thoughtful, all around good kid, with a great sense of humor, who found the good in everyone. Waylon is survived by his mother; Brenda Kay (Phillips) Fultz, 2 sons; Nevin Phillips, Shannon Khun, 1 brother; Brad Phillips (wife Jackie), 1 sister; Madison Phillips, stepmother; Missy Phillips, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Dowell Phillips, and step father; Ricky Fultz. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 12-1 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Brother Mike Donathan officiating. Burial will be held in Green Park Cemetery in Portland, IN. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
