 Trice Lanier Bailey, 90, of  Muncie, IN, formerly of Farmland, IN, passed away Sunday, July 30th, 2023, peacefully while in the company of family members at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. Lanier was born in Pocahontas, TN, on December 10, 1932, a son of the late Myrtle Elizabeth (McMahan)and Trice Jay Bailey. He was a 1951 graduate of Selma High School, and proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a radioman on the USS Virgo. Lanier married the love of his life Miss Betty Deloris (Cox) on October 21, 1952. He was originally employed at Bailey's Diner in Muncie, IN with hopes of someday owning his own restaurants. Little did he know that God had bigger plans for this small town boy and his beautiful bride, because together he and Betty co-owned Bailey's Store and Bailey's Dry Cleaners in Farmland, IN, which later added locations in Muncie as well. As a member and elder at Towne Acres Church of Christ, Lanier was involved with Sunday school, outreach programs and helping others just as he has always done in his community as a member of the Lions Club and the founding father of the Farmland Little League. Lanier, a man who never met a stranger and was known on occasion to give a ride to a few, had a love for music, gardening, traveling, golf, reading, and history, but above all else he cherished time with his wife and family. He is survived by his lovely wife Betty D. Bailey, 3 children; Steven Lanier Bailey (wife Jeannie), Aaro Lynn (Bailey) Gard, Phillip Jay Bailey (wife Sherry), 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Lanier was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters; Evelyn Northcutt, Eunice Reynard and 1 grandchild. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 10-12 at Towne Acres Church of Christ in Muncie, IN. A memorial service will follow at 12 PM with Josh Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Towne Acres Church of Christ or the Farmland Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel.
