 Shirley L. Ward, 88, of Dunkirk, IN, passed away Thursday, March 7th, 2024 peacefully while in the company of family members at Signature Health Care in  Muncie, IN. Shirley was born in Dunkirk, IN on September 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Marjorie (Cook) and William Morris. She was a 1953 graduate of Dunkirk High School and the loving wife of the late Virgil Ward who she sadly lost in 2005. Shirley was a dedicated wife and mother, a faithful member of  Temple Baptist Church, enjoyed  baking, cooking, sewing, card games, church bible study, watching the Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, the Cincinnati Reds, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, rotating and savoring a variety of snacks and ice cream treats and was famous for her homemade honey cookies. Shirley is  survived by four sons Joseph W. Ward (Devona), Robert L. Ward  (Tami), Rick D. Ward (Laura), John T. Ward, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and her special friend Shawnda Hatfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil,  1 son Charles, 1 grandchild,  and 1 great grandchild. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 11-1 at MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Scott McClain officiating. Burial will be held in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff and residents at Signature Health Care for making Shirley feel so at home, comfortable and loved while there. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
