Robert Lee Bumbalough, 88, of Dunkirk, IN, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 peacefully while in the company of family members at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Robert was born in Overton County, TN, on February 28, 1935, a son of the late Ova Barton (Harris) and Willie Lee "Will" Bumbalough. He was the loving husband of the late Peggy Jean (Cross) Bumbalough who he sadly lost on October 15, 2018. Robert was formerly employed by Indiana Glass Factory Handshop for over 38 years, worked in logging with his family in his younger years but if asked he would tell you he was a truck driver, as he was devoted to auto transportation for the majority of his adult life and that is where the heart of his employment years was spent. He loved being a mechanic and tinkering on engines, modified dirt track racing, fishing, BlueGrass Music, playing the guitar and banjo, and Sunday dinners with his large extended family. Robert has always been busy and on the go, independent, ornery and mischievous but to those he loved, there was no one more caring, helpful or willing to put others first. He is survived by 3 sons; Richard Fogle (Brenda), Bobby Joe Bumbalough, Randy Allen Bumbalough, 1 daughter; Bobbi "Scooter" Bumbalough, 1 brother; JT Bumbalough (Patsy), 5 sisters; Frances Williams, Martha Hutson (James), Janice Pittman (John), Maggie McCloud, Barbara Cunningham, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Ova and Will Bumbalough, wife Peggy, daughter Sherry Sue Bumbalough, 2 brothers; Lonny Bumbalough, Ralph Bumbalough, and 3 brother in laws; Arnold Williams, Bobby McCloud, Lester Cunningham. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 2-4 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4 PM with Pastor Mike Donathan officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
