Richard Alfred Barthelmes, 81, of Ridgeville, IN, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 peacefully while in the company of family members at his residence. He was born in Prince George, MD, on March 10, 1942, a son of the late Caroline V. (Cooper) and Wendell P. Barthelmes. Following high school graduation Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was formerly employed as a machinist for Donahue Industries until his retirement, and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He is survived by his wife Anna T. (Denham) Barthelmes, sons; Greg Barthelmes (wife Rebeca), Kenneth Denham (wife Nadine), Jeffrey Denham, daughter; Susan M. Hathaway (husband Lesley), brothers; Alan Barthelmes (wife Linda), Wendell Barthelmes, Russell Barthelmes, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Wendell P. And Caroline V. Barthelmes. Services will be private at the convenience of the family in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
