Murray Lee Sunday, 80, of Farmland, IN, passed away Saturday, August 12th, 2023 peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his residence. Murray was born in Winchester, IN, on February 20, 1943, a son of the late Mary Roberta (Wright) and Hubert Lee Sunday. He attended Farmland High School, proudly served in the U.S. Army, and was formerly employed as a machine operator for 30 years at General Motors Chevrolet in Muncie, IN. Murray was the loving husband of Rebecca Sue (Morrison) Sunday who he happily married on September 11, 1970. He was a member of the Farmland American Legion, Conservation Club, and a proud member of the UAW local 499. He often took his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren fishing. He was an avid pool player and karaoke singer. He enjoyed classic country and western music and the fifties music he grew up listening to. Murray was also a passionate sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite teams with his family. His favorite teams included The Muncie Central Bearcats, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Cubs, and above all others Indiana University basketball and whoever was playing Purdue. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Sue Sunday, a son Derrell Sunday (Teresa), daughters Dawn Rains and Meranda Vicente (Mike), a brother Bill Sunday (Dorothy), 6 grandchildren; Jade Sunday, Brittany Merchant, Justin Ashley, Dominic Vicente, Tristan Vicente, Jaxon Burkhead, 7 great grandchildren, with one more on the way, and several nieces and nephews. Murray was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Sheila Nestor, Rhonda Varga, and grandchild, Nicholas Rains. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 12-2 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Farmland, IN, with military honors performed by the Randolph County Veterans. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel.
