 Muriel Elizabeth (Bader) Smithson, 73, of Farmland, IN, passed away Thursday, July 27th, 2023, peacefully while in the company of family members at her residence. Muriel was born in New Smyrna Beach, FL, on June 22, 1950, a daughter of the late Muriel Marion (Heinzen) and James William Bader. She was the loving wife of  John R. Smithson who she happily married on December 14, 1974 and sadly lost on August 15, 2022. Together they built a beautiful home and created lasting memories they have shared with their family over the years. Muriel enjoyed art, baking, gardening, music, camping, watching Perry Mason and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by 3 sons; Scott Sours, Roy Smithson (Larry Fuhs), Doug Smithson (Lauri), 1 daughter; Lisa Smithson (John Miller), 1 brother; Tony Bader (Vicki), 1 sister; Juanita Bunch (Mike), sister in law; Elaine Bader, 13 grandchildren; Makayla and Makenzie Thurman, Zachary Smithson, Brooke, Hannah, Andrew and Haley Sours, Jennifer Spence, Kalynn and Caleb Sours, Julia Weber, Maranda Smithson and Perry John; and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, 1 son; Chad Sours, 1 daughter; Roxy Sours, and 1 brother; Richard "Dick" Bader. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 1 PM at Hopewell Cemetery in rural Farmland, IN, with Pastor Steve Conner officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may go to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Farmland Chapel.
