 Lois Ann Christian

 Lois Ann Christian, 75, of Dunkirk, IN, passed away Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 peacefully while in the company of family members after a long and heroic battle with cancer at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. Lois was born in Zela, West Virginia, on January 21, 1949, a daughter of the late Frank H. and Myrtle L. (Grose) Songer. Lois was a graduate of Jay County High School, went on to receive her LPN degree from the Ball Nursing Program and an associates degree in office administration.  She was the loving wife of Harold T. Christian who she happily married on July 9, 1981 and has celebrated over 42 wonderful years and memories with. Lois attended Sugar Grove Church, was a member of Ladies Aide, a former Brownie Leader, Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, organizing the Songer reunions twice a year, a proud supporter of the group STRONGER, enjoyed making jewelry, reading, cooking, traveling, flowers, gardening, online shopping, listening to southern gospel music, and watching western's. A faithful woman of God who set the example of kindness and love for her family and others in every aspect of her life, whether that be supporting her grands and greats in their sporting  events and activities, preparing meals for special events or someone in need, the annual Christian Family Christmas decorating extravaganza,  or helping her grandchildren  with all of their wedding needs. Lois is survived by her husband Harold, 3 daughters; Amendi Willoughby, Lori McClain (Scott), Christi Hensley (Daniel), 2 brothers; Sam Songer (Bonniejo), Robert Songer (Nickie), 2 sisters; Cathy Fancil, Rhonda Clubs, mother in law; Martha Christian, 1 brother in law; Jim Overstreet, 2 sisters in law; Norma Songer, Sherry Bess (Jack), 12 grandchildren; Nick Willoughby (Ashley), Shan Willoughby (Kaitlyn), Shon Willoughby, Katie Grimes (Casey), Maranda Bell (Alex), Nathaniel McClain (Hailey), Alexis Watt (Matt), Alisha Eppelmann (Jeramy), Daniel Hensley (Danielle), Anthony Skeens (Cortney), Boone Hensley, Catrina Hensley, 29 great grandchildren; Heavyn, Emma, Addi, Ethan, Gracie, Brantley, Harper, Alyzah, Elijah, Raine, Annie, Aubrey, Brilynn, Abraham, Ryatt, Nova, Taylor, Xander, Letty, Carson, Carter, Caroline, Payton, Kiyen, Calliejane, Georgia, Clavin, Emerson, Bennett, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Myrtle Songer, stepmother Rosalie Songer, 4 brothers; Johnny, Larry, Don, and Gerald Songer, 4 sisters; Laura Adams, Emogene Overstreet, Burma Massengale, Ruth Tomey, son in law; Jim Willoughby, father in law; Andrew Christian, and brother and sister in law; Terry and Lana Joseph. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 2-4 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4 PM with Pastor Scott McClain officiating. Burial will be held privately in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Jay County Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
