Kayla M. Halsey, 31, of Dunkirk, IN, passed away Thursday, March 9th, 2023, peacefully while in the company of family members at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, in Muncie, IN. Kayla was born in Muncie, IN, on August 3, 1991, a daughter of Judy V, (Wilburn) Halsey and the late Johnny M. Halsey. She was an excellent student as a child, consistently ranked on the honor roll, formerly attended First Community Baptist Church in Redkey, IN, and worked in manufacturing for most of her adult life. Kayla was a very kind, caring, sweet and respectful young lady who wasn't afraid to be silly and loved to spend time with her family. She has always had a heart for children, softball, drawing, crafting, baking, music, and collecting monkey stuffed animals and figurines. Kayla is survived by her mother Judy V. Halsey, 2 nieces; Destiny J. Sapp, Shelby R. Sapp, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Johnny M. Halsey, sister Jasmine V. (Halsey) Sapp, boyfriend Spencer Hobbs, grandparents; Pauline (McMeans) Halsey, Ernest Terry Halsey, Elmer Glen Wilburn, and Betty Louise (Stickler) Shelby. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
