Dorothy L. (Hayden) Dunnington

 Dorothy L. Dunnington, 91, of  Dunkirk, IN, passed away Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, peacefully while in the company of family members at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. Dorothy was born in Gaston, IN, on March 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Nellie Opal (Kennard) and Clifford Cecil Hayden. She attended Gaston High School and was formerly employed by Indiana Glass in the Handshop. Dorothy was the loving wife of the late Thomas E. Dunnington who she happily married on July 2, 1949. She was a member of the Redkey United Methodist Church, an avid bowler, enjoyed gardening, fishing and most of all she loved spending time with and supporting of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events. Dorothy is survived by 2 sons; Clifford Edward Dunnington (JoAnn), Thomas Eugene Dunnington (LeeAnn), 1 daughter; Tamela Lynn Dunnington (Kevin), 2 sisters; Ruth Alberta Todd, Shirley Kay Arnold, 6 grandchildren , 8 great grandchildren and a special niece; Lois Ann Pressler. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 4 brothers; Robert, Charles, James and Richard Hayden. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 10-12 at Meacham Funeral Home in Albany, IN. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Burial will be held in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery. A special thank you to the nursing staff at the Water's of Dunkirk, and the nurses and staff at  IU Health for all of their care and compassion during this time.
