Obituary

Redkey, IN
 Dixie D. (Blanchard) Eads

Dixie D. (Blanchard) Eads, 83, of Redkey, IN, passed away Sunday, February 19th, 2023, peacefully while in the company of family members at her residence. Dixie was born in Dunkirk, IN, on July 10, 1939, a daughter of the late Hazel (Murphy)  and Walter  Blanchard. She was a 1957 graduate of Dunkirk High School and went on to continue her education in business school and Ball State University. Dixie was the widow of Ora (Dutch) Eads, formerly worked  as a machine operator for CTS in Berne, IN, and for the Jay County Welfare Department for several years, finding homes for local foster children. She was a member of Community Baptist Church and also attended Redkey United Methodist Church where she so graciously played the organ. Dixie was a devoted wife and mother, to not only her 4 sons, but to 17 foster children that she welcomed into her home and family, over a 14 year period. She loved animals, watching MONK, her dog Louie, and the comforts of home. Dixie was known in the community for her nonjudgmental, unconditional love for others and a safe place where the door was always open. She is survived by her 4 sons; Jay Eads (Connie Kelsey), Jim Eads (Becky), Joe Eads, Jeff Eads (Melissa), 7 grandchildren; Danielle Eads, Eden Hayes (Michael), Jade Bocek (Dan), Ariel Miller (Tim), Yeimi Eads, Sebastian Eads, David Eads, 1 great granddaughter; Hannah Hayes, and 3 very special friends; Jayne Miller, Joyce Harshbarger, and Christa Retter. She was preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Hazel Blanchard, husband Ora (Dutch) Eads, and 3 brothers; Donnie, Daniel and David Blanchard. Friends are invited to call Friday, February 24, 2023 from 11:30-1 at MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Burial will be held in Dunkirk IOOF Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to ASPCA or the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel.
