Darrell Wayne Cook
Darrell Wayne Cook, longtime Jay County resident, passed away Sunday, April 9th, 2023 peacefully at his Indianapolis home. Darrell was born in Portland, IN, on February 14, 1952, a son of the late Ruth Ellen (Reynolds) and George Oliver Cook. He was a 1970 graduate of Redkey High School, proudly served in the United States Army, was formerly employed as an electrical maintenance mechanic for General Motors, taught at IVY Tech briefly, was a life member of the DAV, and Past Master for the Masonic Lodge #298. Darrell enjoyed Auctioneering, Ham Radio operating, karaoke, wood carving, playing the harmonica, genealogy, target shooting, country music, and received his letter of certification from the Native American Society and his Native American name "Two Feathers". He is survived by his wife Deborah Louise (Wallace) Cook, son; Daniel Cook, daughter; Sabrina Coffman (husband Jamie), sister; Joyce A. Mullen (husband Steve), grandson; Christopher Coffman, special niece in law; Jennifer Holbrook (husband Justin), several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Darrell is preceded in death by his parents and one brother; George William (Bill) Cook. Friends are invited to call Friday, April 14, 2023 from 11-1 at MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM with Reverend Deloris Cook officiating. Burial will be held in Claycomb Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Dunkirk VFW and American Legion Post. A special thank you to Dr. Caldwell and the Indianapolis VA Medical Center Staff for their outstanding care. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel.
